The Manx countryside offers an ideal place for mountain bikers of all skill levels. With tricky and narrow coastal paths, rough off-road routes and easier plantation paths, the island offers something for every level of mountain biker to enjoy.
For fans of mountain biking on the Isle of Man there are few events in the holiday calendar that rank as highly as the Manx Telecom End to End challenge on the Isle of Man, first held in 1996, which now draws competitors in from around the world.
Run annually in September, the event is challenging for every level of cyclist with a 75km route starting at the Point of Ayre in the North of the Island and finishing in Port Erin in the South. This incorporates 1500 meters of climbing and mixes fast roads with tricky off-road sections. With course times ranging from 3 to 6 hours there is always a mix of high-end and casual competitors.
The course itself is an ideal opportunity to see some of the less travelled paths and tracks around the Island, and offers views of the countryside that you would never otherwise get to see.
