The Isle of Man is well-known for its motor-sport events, from the famous TT fortnight, through to the Manx Grand Prix. In addition to this the unique Manx countryside and coastal regions make excellent locations for other sporting challenges for individuals who enjoy the outdoors.
The Isle of Man Adventure race is a prime example of this. A non-stop 35km race running on Saturday 19th September and sponsored by Mylchreests, this race involves biking, running as well as special stages. These special stages are what really set the event apart from others. Previous stages have included kayak sections, coasteering and rope climbing. In addition to these, navigation plays a role during the race so you will need to ensure you have a well-rounded skill set.
If this sort of event is something that appeals to you it may also be worth looking at the Tough Mann Adventure Challenge, a 10km obstacle race that is run annually on the Island, or perhaps visit during the Easter Festival of Running for a more traditional sporting challenge.
