The sea forms a vital part of Manx life and history, from Viking invasions through to the smaller individual fishing communities scattered around the Island. To find out more about this aspect of Manx life you can visit the Nautical museum in Castletown where, for more than 200 years, the "Peggy" has lived.

This earliest example of a British yacht was built by businessman, banker, soldier and (alleged!) smuggler Captain George Quayle who was obsessed with invention and technology.

As well as seeing secret doors, panels and hidden hold areas, you will now be able to visit the new "Quayle's Gallery" telling more of Captain Quayle's personal story with previously unseen archaeological finds.

After visiting the site you will find yourself in an ideal place to explore more of the ancient capital of the Isle of Man, with Heritage sites such as Castle Rushen and the Old House of Keys a short distance away.

Further information can be found on the Manx National Heritage website.
