Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival 2017

Some Manx attractions have been around for a long time. The Victorian Steam Railway, the Laxey Wheel and the TT races are classic reasons to visit the Island and places to enjoy during your visit. Some reasons to visit the Island on the other hand are much newer but rapidly gaining recognition.

The Hooded Ram Brewery is one such attraction. It was founded in 2013 by Robert Storey who wanted to start a small American Style Brewery offering a different range of beers to those normally found on the Island.

In a short time the Brewery rapidly grew to recognition, winning the CAMRA Beer Festival 1st place in 2014 with Little King Louis IPA 6.0%, and winning first and 2nd place in 2015 for Black Pearl Oyster Stout 5.2% and 2nd for Little King Louis IPA 6.0% respectively.

In addition to having their cask ales in over 20 pubs, and bottles available throughout the Island's hotels and restaurants, the Brewery Bar is also open the first Friday of month from 5pm to 11pm for Beer and Pie night. The brewery also offers tours by arrangement on the 2nd and 3rd Friday of each month if you want to see the process of brewing in more detail.

To see how the ales by The Hooded Ram stack up against other Manx competitors you could always time your visit to coincide with the Isle of Man CAMRA Beer & Cider festival. This popular event offers a great chance to sample a range of beers and ciders and choose your favourite.
