Wildlife & Animal Attractions
The Isle of Man is a great place to see wildlife and, from the moment you step off your flight, or drive off the ferry, you will see how the countryside lends itself to animal attractions.
The Island's leading conservation charity, the Manx Wildlife Trust, works hard to protect the Island's environment, both on land and in the local seas. Through them you can visit 8 nature reserves scattered around the island. Alternatively they run 2 visitor centres, one at Scarlett in the South of the Island, one at Ayres in the North.
The Curraghs Wildlife Park is another very popular location for wildlife and, as well as local species, it offers wildlife of a more international nature and can easily fill an entire day out with the family. Easily visited by bus or car it is in the North of the Island and is an essential part of your trip. With animals from around the world, regular daily feeding events and a cafe for a break when walking is too much it will make you family holiday that much more memorable.
Sometimes you want a bit more detail about the wildlife around you. What is that bird? Why does it nest here? Where is it from? For these times it is ideal to take advantage of an Isle of Man Guided Tour. On these you will be taken round several local beauty and nature spots and get to understand them in more detail.
