Glen Truan Golf Links, situated on the most Northerly tip of the Isle of Man, is the Isle of Man's newest golf course. With a 6651 yard length and 18 challenging holes it is great for fans of golf visiting the Island and enough justification for a golfer to visit the Isle of Man on its own.
In addition to the course a trip around the area is an ideal opportunity to see some of the Island's beauty. The Point of Ayre Lighthouse and Ayres National Nature Reserve are located next to the course. At the nature reserve visitor centre you can walk the 5 miles of sand dunes from Cronk-y-Bing to the point of Ayre and explore the marked nature trail which winds through the dunes and heath. There is also a short film shown at the visitor centre, talking about the area and some of its natural highlights.
The natural beauty of this part of the Island spills over on the course and often wildlife will wander past during your game. Plus you will have to consider water with 2 fishing lakes during the 13th hole.
At 10 minutes’ drive from Ramsey and 35 minutes from Douglas Glen Truan Golf Course is ideal to visit if you are bringing your own vehicle to the Island via the Isle of Man Steam Packet.
