Manx Telecom Parish Walk 2026

The Manx Telecom Parish Walk will take place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2025. This remarkable 85-mile walking race takes in all 17 parish churches around the Isle of Man.

The Parish Walk began over a century ago as a friendly challenge between neighbours and soon became a major community event in the early 1900s. Although it faded out for a time, the walk was revived in 1960, adopting the route that remains today. Since then, it has grown to become the largest mass-participation sporting event on the Island, attracting over 1,500 walkers each year — all aiming to complete the course within 24 hours and earn the coveted title of Parish Walk finisher.

Starting at the National Sports Centre (NSC) in Douglas, the route winds its way around the south of the Island before heading north and finally returning to Douglas for a spectacular finish along the seafront promenade.

The current record holder is Richard Gerrard, who achieved an incredible time of 14 hours, 40 minutes, and 8 seconds in 2015 — a feat that remains unmatched.

While only a select few complete the full course, every participant who reaches one of the 17 checkpoints receives an official certificate detailing their distance and time — a proud memento of their achievement.

You can choose how much of the course you complete, and whether you walk on your own or as part of a team of four.  Full course finishers receive a finisher’s award with additional prizes for individuals and teams.

Entrants receive a free programme at registration which will also be available to download. Walkers who reach Santon will receive a certificate to recognise their achievement. A time limit of 24 hours is given, and there are cut-off times for reaching each stage.

There are 17 parish churches around the course and your time will be recorded at each parish. The full distance will be subject to time limits. The time taken to reach each church is recorded on an electronic timing system which is displayed on the internet and can be transmitted to two mobile phone numbers of your choice by SMS, by Manx Telecom Timing.

1. Pricing

  • The lead-in price is based on two adults and one car (max. 5.5m L and 1.8m H) travelling from Liverpool on 18 June 2026, staying three nights in a twin or double room at the Penta Hotel.

  • All pricing was correct as of 25 November 2025 and may change prior to booking confirmation.

2. Payment & Cancellation

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • All travel costs are strictly non-refundable once booked.

  • We strongly recommend arranging comprehensive travel insurance to cover cancellation, medical issues, or weather-related disruption. Please contact us if you require assistance arranging insurance.

3. Amendments to Travel Arrangements

  • If you need to make changes after booking, please contact us.

  • Amendments may not always be possible, and where permitted, may incur additional charges.

4. Vehicle Requirements

If travelling with a motor vehicle, the following limits apply:

  • Cars: maximum 1.8m high × 5m long

  • Motorhomes: maximum 3.4m high × 6m long

  • Maximum permitted vehicle weight: 4 tonnes
