While visiting the Isle of Man most holiday makers will spend some time in Castletown, the island's ancient capital. As well as being home to the ever-popular Castle Rushen the town also hosts a number of other Heritage attractions.
Built around 1200AD the Old Grammar School is a free admission site open from the end of March until the beginning of November and is the oldest roofed structure still standing on the Isle of Man.
During your visit you can experience the Victorian Classroom, view examples of schoolwork and equipment from the time and pick up a few souvenirs of your visit to Castletown.
To complete your Victorian experience after visiting the Old Grammar School, you can hop on the Heritage Steam Railway at the nearby station and travel to Douglas to visit one of the many sites such as the Manx Museum located in the capital. Alternatively you can head south to Port Erin and explore one of the many coastal walks in the area, or visit the museum at Cregneash to see how the Manx lived.
